Dinner

I had supper at the Codfather Sandton tonight. I ordered a T-Bone that I wanted with a pepper crust. My waitron was not sure, but the chef came to his and my rescue saying that it was possible. Was great. Well done Codfather. I will certainly be back very soon.

Fantastic New Years Eve!

After going many years to the old cod father that was on Rivonia (literally 1km from the house) I was disappointed to hear that it was moving. What got me more down was the fact that the menu was different. Anyways thats water under the bridge and Codfather was the venue for New Years Eve. One of our friends was down from the UK, who previously lived in Johannesburg, and he loves the flavours and variety of food we get in Jozie.

The restaurant is situated on the ground floor of the Sandton Skye building. It is extremely spacious with both and inside and outside seating area. They have the usual fish and seafood display where you can pick and choose from a variety of seafood and make your own meal.

I usually used to order the chicken and prawn combo they had at the old restaurant, but since the menu had changed I decided on the half peri-peri chicken from the menu to see if it could live up the expectations its predecessor had left. The chicken wasn't as quite there, but it was still great. It was served with a generous portion of chips, and peri-peri sauce on the side.

For dessert I had noticed the ice cream stand as we had walked in and had set my heart on that for my dessert. I ordered 2 scoops, one was the starbuck coffee flavour, the other flavour has seem to be lost in the blur of the drinks that flowed that night as well. However the ice cream was lovely but could have been a little creamier especially if its made in house.

Thanks to the staff of Codfather for a fantastic New Years Eve.

Awesome Evening

We used to frequently go to The Codfather often when they were based along Rivonia. I had been wanting to go to the new place for a while and just didn't get around to going there. We had friends over from the UK and they wanted to eat good seafood before going back. I tried to book numerous places in Joburg for New Years Eve but most restaurants were either closed or had a set menu. I called The Codfather and they were open so we made a reservation for 10 people. The new place is posh and trendy. The wine and food selection was awesome. You also have the option to pick your own seafood or choose from the menu. I decided to have the sole from the menu which was so delicious. The fish was cooked perfectly and was like butter on my mouth. For dessert I had the poached pears in white wine. It was good but the pear could have done with being poached for slightly longer. All in all an awesome evening with great company and lovely food.

The Extra Mile!

What a pleasant Sunday lunch stop. Went for a 87th birthday, staff went above and beyond to make her day. The tuna steak off menus is brilliant, as is ordering from the wet fish area. My personal. High light was the deserts. The trio of ice cream sandwiches is a flavour sensation.

Beautiful restaurant

Beautiful restaurant. I've been here for multiple group occasions, it's great for hosting a large number of people, either for a birthday, or just a girls night out.
The wine cellar is the best place to dine in the evenings it's so romantic, private and cosy and outside for an afternoon of high tea.

The portions are huge, definitely worth it. On the one occasion I had the ribs, it was to die for. Succulent, saucy, juicy and tender.

The other occasions it was mostly platters created by the host and the chef, which is a great touch as the restaurant caters to your groups likes and dislikes.

Overall: excellent services, good food, great wine and beautiful scenery
